Cigar Smoking: Safer Than Cigarette Smoking

The switch from cigarette smoking to cigar smoking can be particularly harmful because you might inhale cigar smoke in the same way that you might have inhaled tobacco smoke in the past. Depending on the number of cigars you smoke and the depth to which you smoke, the greater the risks are for your health. There are no such advantages to smoking.

Smoking cigars on a regular basis isn’t as harmful to your health as smoking them occasionally, but smoking cigars as a whole is not recommended at all. I would recommend that you quit tobacco entirely instead of trying to choose between smoking cigarettes and smoking cigars. As far as tobacco products are concerned, there is no form of tobacco that is safe.

Cigar smoking is not at all safer than cigarettes. The nicotine contained in cigars, like that in cigarettes, is responsible for the dependency on tobacco products. As a matter of fact, a single full-size cigar can contain almost as much nicotine as can be found in a pack of cigarettes. In order to get the same amount of nicotine that you would consume if you smoked cigarettes, you would need to inhale cigar smoke. Moreover, even if you do not intentionally inhale any nicotine, the lining of your mouth can absorb large amounts of nicotine from the air you breathe. There is no evidence that smoking cigars instead of cigarettes reduces your risk of becoming addicted to nicotine.
